To every Intended Parent still waiting,

I see you.

I see the quiet courage it takes to hope again after each setback.

I see the strength it takes to hold space for a dream that hasn’t come true… yet.

I see the love you carry for a child you haven’t met but already know by heart.

I, too, once wondered if I would ever have children. I would rub my belly and wonder if I was broken, and if I could ever be capable of growing life. I remember the heartbreak of another negative pregnancy test, the uncertainty of every doctor’s update, and the silent stings of every baby shower invite.

And now, every Mother’s Day, I look at my children and tell them how lucky I am to be their mother. I am so grateful. The road here was not easy, but it was worth every step, penny and sacrifice. This journey may not look the way you imagined it. And that’s okay. There is deep beauty in the unexpected.

Sometimes, the most extraordinary families are built from the bold decision to open our hearts to paths we never considered: egg donation, sperm donation, surrogacy, embryo donation, and adoption. None of these options make your dream any less valid. They make it more expansive, more courageous, more powerful and bold.

My advice is to never live in regret. So please, don’t give up hope. Let it change, let it evolve, but don’t let it go. Your story is still being written. And on the other side of this chapter, there is love, so much love waiting for you! You are already a parent in the way you continue to show up. You are already worthy of a family filled with laughter, sticky hugs, and sleepy bedtime stories.

When that moment comes — and if you don’t give up, it will come — you will look back and know that every tear, every choice, every ounce of strength brought you to a love deeper than anything you could have imagined.
